Formac's Gallery™ Xtreme™ displays feature the fastest gray-to-gray
pixel response time in the industry, making them ideal for intensive
full-motion video and game graphics. Many manufacturers report pixel
response time as the "rise" time, plus the "fall" time. Rise time is
the time required to transition from black to white and fall time is
the time required to transition from white to black. This reported time
can be misleading because it is not a true indication of the actual
pixel response time for end-user applications. A better indicator of
flat-panel performance for full-motion video is the average time to
transition between several sets of random gray levels, referred to as
the "gray-to-gray" response time (this is because most transitions in
real-life situations happen between different colors or shades, and not
between black and white). For 30 frames-per-second video applications,
the average gray-to-gray pixel response time must be less than 16
milliseconds (ms) to prevent blurring. A fast pixel response eliminates
the ghosting and distortion usually seen on LCDs with slower pixel
response times.
